You may be asked for your car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for multiple reasons. You could apply for tags and registration or getting insurance and need to locate it quickly. Whatever the reason, you need to be able to find your vehicle's VIN number.
Fortunately, it is typically located in two places within a vehicle.
- The first location should be easy to find. Locate your VIN Number on the driver's side where the windshield meets the dashboard. There should be a little metal plate that has the VIN and other information specific to your car.
- If you cannot find it there, then you will find it where the door latches, also known as the doorpost on the driver side door.
Your vehicle identification number (VIN) consists of 17 digits. It is a great way to find out about the vehicle's history and unlocks information on where it has been and what it has done.
Even if you do not need your VIN today, it is always good to know where you can find it if you need it. Drive safely!
